Join Twin Cities TU for an afternoon of habitat work on the South Branch of the Vermillion River. A little maintenance will go a long way to continue supporting the trout habitat and keeping invasive species from returning.
TCTU removed over 14 acres of buckthorn (2014-2019) from the riparian area of the South Branch before a MNTU stream improvement project in 2019. We'll spend the afternoon performing maintenance work in ongoing support of that project. Work plans include cutting and treating buckthorn and bush honeysuckle as well as removal of a beaver dam and a couple of debris jams from the stream. Many of these have been documented by theTCTU Stream Keepers.
After we finish working, we invite you to enjoy the benefits of TCTU partnerships that have improved this stream: bring your rod and enjoy fishing afterwards.

Volunteers are advised to dress for the weather. Additionally, you will need to bring:
- Sturdy work boots
- Waders and wading boots
- Leather work gloves (recommended - we will have extras available to borrow)
- Safety glasses (recommended - we will have extras available to borrow)
