Are you familiar with streams like Brown’s Creek, Trout Brook, The Vermillion River, or Eagle Creek? Maybe you've crossed over them and wondered whether they were worth fishing. All of these waters are in the 7-county Metro area, and most of them are within a 30-minute drive of downtown Minneapolis or St. Paul. You might be surprised by how many trout can be found in these streams, and how big some of them are!
Join DNR Trout Stream Habitat Specialist Mark Nemeth, who will provide the latest information on stream surveys, habitat projects, regulations, and Driftless Brook Trout within these and other metro trout streams. This presentation may have you revisiting a stream or raise your interest in casting to metro trout this year and into the future.

Mark Nemeth is the Trout Stream Habitat Specialist for the DNR's Central Region Fisheries. He has been actively involved in protecting and improving trout resources in the Twin Cities Metro Area. He is passionate about water quality, stream habitat, and trout. During his spare time, you are likely to find him fishing streams or pursuing upland birds with family and friends. He has B.S. degrees in Fisheries and Wildlife Management from the University of Minnesota and an M.S. in Biology from the Tennessee Technological University. His research focused on stocked and wild trout in the South Fork of the Holston River. Before coming to Minnesota he worked as the Fishery Biologist for the Fort Apache Indian Reservation, aiding the recovery of Apache Trout.
Our meeting will be in-person, with a Zoom option for those who prefer to attend remotely. The Chapter meeting will start at 7 pm, with 10 minutes of "virtual lobby time" to give online participants time to log on. In-person participants are invited to join us for social time and food/drink at the Crooked Pint (on your own dime) from 5 pm onward.
TCTU Chapter meetings are open to anybody, but if you are not a TU member, we'd be delighted if you would join! For a special introductory offer to join TU, click here.
Chapter meetings are free of charge. However, donations are appreciated to offset the costs of meetings and to support our mission of cold water conservation. To donate to our chapter, click here.
