Spring creek supports quality populations of naturally reproducing brook and brown trout. The Spring Creek system is an important thermal refugee for trout in the Prairie River. In 2024 a large stream restortation project was completed on Spring Creek. The project included channel shaping, large rock placement, woody installation and tag alder mowing. In the future the tree planting will suppress tag alder regeneration and provide shade and large wood recruitment for the creek. The project is on a unique property which contains access to Spring Creek and Spring Lake. We are planning on continuing stream restoration downstream from this site this summer. DNR plans to dredge Spring Lake in the future. Please bring along waders or knee boots. If you have a tree spud or shovel bring that along also. Please get tickets so we can plan for a FREE lunch with beverages>
