Join North Sound Trout Unlimited for an enlightening evening with Nicholas Chambers (Masters of Science student at the University of Washington, formerly with Trout Unlimited's Wild Steelhead Initiative) who will connect ongoing scientific research in the Skagit River basin to future implications for wild steelhead management. Co-sponsored by the Western Debate Union, WWU's intercollegiate debate organization.

This is a free talk that is open to the public, but please register in advance to help us gauge event size. It will be hosted on Western Washington University's campus in Academic West (AW), Room 204.  Doors will open at 6:45pm with the talk to begin at 7pm.

Talk details: We blew up the world of wild steelhead - dams, hatcheries, logging, harvest, the works. Now we’re trying to manage what’s left… but are we mistaking that for what's possible? Steelhead resilience comes from diversity in space and time: it’s not just how many show up, but where and when they do. This talk explores why managing for abundance alone can ignore the core elements that make steelhead resilient.

PARKING INFORMATION: There is free parking (beginning 4:30pm) in Lot C and Lot 12G. Both lots are a 3-4 minute walk to Academic West. After parking, cross the street (College Way), and Academic West is the first building on the right/east side of the plaza. A campus map is available here.
