We'll be tying flies at Orvis the 2nd Sunday of each month through March possibly April. We'll start at 1:30 and wrap up around 3:30, the shop closes at 4. Street parking is free downtown on Sundays, it might be a little crowded so plan for some extra time to find a spot. There are also paid lots and garages nearby if that's easier for you.
We are happy to help if you're new to fly-tying and want to learn, we have extra vices and tools if you need them just let us know so we make sure we have enough.
If you have black thread that would be great to bring as well as we don't always have enough thread spools in one color for everyone. We will have all of the other materials for you.
If you'd like to get your own materials here is the list:
- Hook - Gamakatsu SC-15 in sizes 4, 6, and 8.
- Brass bead to match the size of hook.
- 6/0 Olive thread or clear mono
- Body – Holographic silver tinsel of choice
- Wing – Gray Squirrel Tail, a med sized clump that can be stacked or not and you can add a couple of strands of crystal flash to give the fly some sparkle or not.
- Collar – 3-5 strands of Peacock Herl depending on quality.
If you have or able to get the supplies please bring them, otherwise we will have enough supplies. We accept donations to be able to replenish supplies.
