Details
Neonicotinoid (“neonic”) insecticide seed treatments are used on roughly 11 million+ acres across Minnesota each year. Less than 5% of the insecticide is taken up into the crop--the rest of it makes its way into the groundwater and into our streams. Neonics are highly toxic to insects, including aquatic insects; it has been estimated that one ounce can kill 6 billion bees. Together with 30+ other conservation organizations, our chapter will be advocating for effective regulation of these seed treatments in the upcoming Minnesota Legislative Session. Currently, there are no meaningful regulations.
Sign up to join us on March 9, 2026, for a day at the capitol building, calling on Minnesota legislators to take action to rein in unnecessary neonic contamination! Please fill out the form by February 27th.
Rough Schedule (may be subject to change):
- 8:30-9am: Check in at Christ Lutheran on Capitol Hill (105 University Ave. W, St. Paul) between 8:30 and 9am
- 9-10am: Event with speakers at the Church
