Come join us on March 19th for our monthly Shenandoah Valley TU (Chapter 208) Meeting being held at Parrott Orthodontics (Staunton, VA). This month, we have an action-packed agenda planned, discussing upcoming chapter events and news, volunteer opportunities, stream survey schedules, and stocking schedules (see below). Additionally, we have the pleasure of hosting Dr. Todd Scanlon from UVA, who will present “Meadow Run Watershed Restoration” and discuss the Liming project recently completed in the Meadow Run/Rip Rap Run watershed of the Shenandoah National Park!
Volunteer Trout Stocking Opportunities:
If you are interested in taking part in stocking our local streams and rivers, the following events should provide the opportunity to join the "bucket brigade" and get your hands dirty! Please contact Tommy Lawhorne at tommy@southriverflyshop.com if you would like to help.

Trout Stream Survey Opportunities Spring 2026:
- Thursday, March 19: Upper Calfpasture River, meet @ Jakes @ 10am.
- Thursday, April 2: Buffalo Creek, meet @ Roadmap Coffee @ 10am.
- April 10-12: Pedlar River, 2 nights at Oronoco Campground with Roanoke Chapter.
- Thursday, April 16: Upper Calfpasture River, meet @ Jakes @ 10am.

Also, if you are interested in becoming certified to conduct surveys of trout stream crossings to determine if they are barriers, training for volunteers will be held at the South River Watershed Coalition office in Waynesboro on May 6th, from 8am to 5pm.
