His second book, Casting Onward – Fishing Adventures in Search of America’s Native Gamefish has received critical acclaim as an important work of outdoor adventure and conservation literature. Casting Seaward: Fishing Adventures in Search of America’s Saltwater Gamefish is the third book in the Lyons Press Series will be released on April 1st of 2023.

Steve currently writes the Seasonable Angler column for Fly Fisherman Magazine and his work has appeared in various journals including, Fly Fisherman, Trout Magazine, The Flyfish Journal, American Angler, Tail Magazine, Hallowed Waters Journal, Under Wild Skies, and many more. Steve serves as the Ambassador for Texas for the American Museum of Fly-Fishing, is a Life Member of Trout Unlimited, and a contributing member of the Nature Conservancy and Audubon.

Steve's presentation is: Casting Onward: Fishing Adventures in Search of America’s Native Gamefish

An in-depth overview of the book with descriptions of the journeys across America in search of native gamefish in their native watersheds. I will take the participants on my journey and share what I discovered about the state of the nation’s watersheds and native fishes. Highlights include trout of the American southwest, desert redbands, Rocky Mountain cutthroats, Guadalupe bass of Texas, and the Potomac River from its clear waters sources where native brook trout thrive to the polluted waters that pass the nation’s capital where our national natural heritage is being decided though action and inaction.

Let's make this a great meeting!  Come prepared to listen, learn and converse with Steve!

Come for 6:00 to have your dinner downstairs and then bring your pint upstairs for this unique presentation and chance to converse with one of America's leading angling and conservation voices!

We're back at The Reservoir in Waterbury, VT.  The meeting is in-person and virtual!  Get the Zoom link here: eventmdtu@gmail.com
