GBTU 2026 Habitat Day #1
Details
Dear Green Bay Trout Unlimited Members and Supporters!
We are excited to announce details for our first 2026 habitat improvement project!!
Doty Creek Habitat Project:
Below is a word from WI DNR's Kyle Kossel:
"The work to be conducted will be brush bundling and fishability brushing, and we'll show off the previous work you've done in the past. These techniques will help narrow the stream to uncover gravel for spawning material, create depth and cover for holding fish, provide nursery habitat for young-of-the-year fish, and give anglers opportunities to catch some fish. Will also talk a little bit about the flooding that occurred at the site this spring. Will be using Christmas trees that will be staged, ready to go, plus onshore brush to create the bundles. We’re hoping to get 10 brush bundles completed, and 500 to 1000ft of stream brushed."
- The project location is around a one-hour drive from Green Bay.
- We will be at the project site, rain or shine.
- Beverages and a grilled lunch are provided for all volunteers.
- Please let Paul Kruse (GBTU Habitat Project Chair) know if you are attending, so we have enough food and beverages for lunch
