I want to share with you an opportunity to register for a special class our chapter is holding: Fly Fishing: The Next Steps.  It is free and limited to the first 6 people to register.  This is a great opportunity to get together with in a smaller more intimate setting and learn more about the sport over the course of several weeks.  This class is based on our Introduction to Fly Fishing class and is an expansion upon that class to increase the student’s knowledge base and confidence in a more intimate setting over an extended time frame.

Any questions, comments, or to register for Fly Fishing: The Next Steps contact to our Chapter President, Eric Baird.

Class will be limited to 6 students, students must members of a TU Chapter in good standing and have a valid fishing license to participate.  Waders will be required for classes 4 and 5. Students would need to agree to volunteer for a future educational event.

Classes 1 through 4 would be on Tuesdays evening from 6 PM to 8 PM with one hour of instruction followed by 1 hour of fishing.  Class 5 will be on a case-by-case basis but minimum of 2 hours on the water instruction.

Casting would include the "how the rod works" portion of the equipment, followed by fishing.

Knot Tying would include the different parts of a fly line and start with an arbor knot and go all the way through to a cinch knot, possibly include a perfection loop, a blood knot, and a Davie knot if time allows.

Fly Tying we will provide basic instruction for raw beginners, and also offer a more "advanced option" to more experienced tyers.

Entomology the students will collect and learn how to identify to family for instruction purposes utilizing a dichotomous key, provide tips and tricks for simple identification to order.

Reading the Water/Where to Fish Last class would be a one on one with a "guide" on a local trout water to learn how to read the water, maybe learn a new "place" to fish and refresh any of the previous skills.

Class locations will be forwarded to participants after registration.
