Fletcher Merkel Memorial Scholarship Fishing Day Fund Raiser--Lake Harriet Regional Park

We need many volunteers to help 200+ kids learn to fish during this fund raiser for Fletcher Merkel.

Please volunteer to help during a day of fishing and fun at Lake Harriet Regional Park to raise money for the Fletcher Merkel Memorial Scholarship fund. Sadly Fletcher was a victim of the Annunciation Catholic school shooting in 2025. The event is already full for kids, and now we need volunteers to help them fish! Volunteers will help with casting instruction (fly and spin casting) and mentor small groups while fishing. There will be jump houses, food ($), games and free evening entertainment at the band shell. Schedule: check-in 1-2p, fishing 2-4p, wrap up and prizes 4-5p, free concert 7p. Stay as long as you like!

Event date: Saturday, May 30, 2026. Fish still bite when it is raining so this event will be rains-or-shine--lightening storms WILL shut it down!

Event location: Lake Harriet Regional Park

What to bring: We will have ~12 TCTU fly rods plus Cabela's is providing some fly and spin equipment. Please bring sunscreen and bug spray. Plan to arrive early (12 noon) to help set up. Water will be provided to volunteers and there will be two places offering food ($).
