The Goodhue Future Farmers of America is sponsoring an Agriculture Day event for all elementary, middle, and high school students on Friday, April 8. Twin Cities TU has been invited to participate in this event, and this is a wonderful opportunity for our chapter to visit with students and members of the agriculture community in the Goodhue area, which holds the headwaters of Hay Creek. At this event, we plan to:
• Provide information about Trout Unlimited
• Offer fly casting lessons
• Conduct WISEH2O water quality testing
• Conduct simple bug identification for samples taken from an area stream
• Have posters showing our recent habitat work in area streams
• Connect with students and community members, especially those in the agriculture community that have an interest in protecting stream resources in the area and beyond.
We are looking for volunteers to help staff our booth, conduct fly casting instruction, and visit with students and community members about our mission and efforts in protecting our stream and cold-water resources.
This is a new and unique opportunity for us to connect and deliver our message with students and leaders in the agriculture community.
