At Trout Unlimited, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of our rivers and the thrill of fly fishing. However, we recognize that historically, fly fishing has been dominated by certain demographics, leading to barriers for others to join the sport.

That's why we're hosting this free clinic, specifically designed to introduce a more diverse range of community members to fly fishing, and our local river. This event aims to address common barriers such as the cost of entry, feeling unwelcome, lack of representation, and the time and effort needed to get started.
Women, LGBTQIA, and BIPOC community members please join us for this inclusive & educational event!  We are reserving 90% of the space in this clinic for you!

The clinic will provide overall instruction from professional Fly Fishing guide Noe Perez and our very own TU board member and professional fish biologist Aimee Taylor.  You will learn the basics of fly fishing, equipment instruction, rod setup, casting instruction and real time practice.  An educational river walk on what good fish habitat looks like, how to read water and water safety.  Equipment will be provided for fly casting practice, rod set-up, a few flies to use for imitating insects, knowledge of local fishing spots, expert demonstration from professional fly fishing guide, and 2:1 practice instruction with avid angler volunteers.  We want to see you have fun, learn and be comfortable in a non-intimidating environment.  Instruction in Spanish will be available.

All needed equipment is provided along with an afternoon snack.

EVENT IS FREE BUT YOU MUST REGISTER AS SPACE IS LIMITED.
Event Location directions:  Head west on Umptanum Rd cross under I-90 freeway and travel to sign for Irene Rinehart  Park which is right before the bridge that crosses the Spokane River.  Turn right into Irene Rinehart Park located at the Yakima River's edge.  Go straight on the main road until you reach the lakes (Carey Lakes).  Look for the Trout Unlimited sign at one of the picnic areas and meet us there at 1:00pm.
