Help DNR staff clear tractor trails to the buckthorn and cedar piles that were made during our volunteer day last March. The Eagle Creek Aquatic Management Area is located in Savage, MN. This is in preparation for burning those piles when the area has at least 3 inches of snow, probably in late December or early January. We will be working for two days--on November 7th and 8th--between 10 AM and 2 PM each day. Feel free to register for either or both days. The clearing process will generate additional brush and dead trees that need to be piled. No chainsaw license or special skills required--just a willingness to clear and pile brush and an interest in habitat!
Volunteers are advised to dress for the weather, wear sturdy work boots, and bring leather gloves. COVID vaccination is recommended, but not required. Please register by noon on November 5th so that we can get an accurate headcount!
Eagle Creek is a designated stream for "Minnesota Driftless" Brook Trout, running through Minnesota's first established AMA. It is one of four restored trout streams in the Twin Cities area.
