Please join us at Eagle Creek, MN's first AMA! To help prepare the AMA for restoration work in 2025, we need 20 volunteers.
- If you are interested in becoming certified Buckthorn Blaster applicator, please email steve.kaukola@twincitiestu.org
What Will We Be Doing
Under the direction of our friend, the MN DNR's Mark Nemeth, we will be cutting, treating and hauling buckthorn and other invasive species into piles.
Why Get Rid of Buckthorn?
Removing buckthorn allows native vegetation to return, resulting in dramatic improvements-more bugs, more food, more habitat-that our native wildlife need to thrive.
The Plan
- Meet at the start time at the pinned location (see map). Make sure you park on the east side of the parking lot.
- We will sign waivers and learn about the day's work, then get to it.
- TCTU volunteers will cut buckthorn with loppers, treat buckthorn stumps w/Buckthorn Blasters, haul & pile up cut trees, while the DNR will chainsaw larger trees for us to haul.
- When completed, we will enjoy a pizza lunch! Bring a camp chair.
What You Should Bring
- Clothes appropriate for the weather
- Heavy work gloves
- Water!
- Camp chair for post work lunch!
What TCTU & the DNR Will Provide
- All equipment
- LUNCH after we're all done working!
Looking forward to seeing you there! And thanks for your time and energy to make things better!
Registration will end 24 hours before the event so that we can get an accurate headcount.
