Eagle Creek is a designated stream for "Minnesota Driftless" Brook Trout, running through Minnesota's first established AMA. TCTU has assisted with removing invasive vegetation from 4.5 acres along the creek. These improvements and stream partnerships benefit habitat for brook and brown trout and other wildlife. But we are just getting started!
We invite you to join us to clear buckthorn on Tuesday, December 5th. We will meet in the parking lot at 8675 Eagle Creek Parkway in Savage (just west of the bridge). Volunteers are advised to dress for the weather, wear sturdy work boots, and bring leather gloves. There will be extra work gloves and safety glasses if needed. Please register at least 24 hours in advance so that we can get an accurate headcount. In case of inclement weather, we will set Thursday Dec. 7th from 9-12:30 as the backup day.
We will work together with three MN DNR employees who will operate chainsaws. Our job will be to drag brush and apply herbicide. If you are interested in applying herbicide and have not yet been certified, you can find a link to the Buckthorn Blaster video and quiz here.
