Dog River Day

The MadDog Chapter of Trout Unlimited (MDTU) announces the First Dog River Day coming to Northfield on Saturday October 18th from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM on the Northfield Common!  The event highlights the charms and value of this unique river, informs about the challenges faced by the river and those who love it and live near or on it!  There’s fun stuff to do and there’s the launch of a co-branded beer with Good Measure Brewing!  Oh and MDTU is serving “Dog River Dogs” for the duration!

 

The event has great resources for Dog River landowners all along it’s watershed, anglers, families and kids!

MDTU along with our partners offer the opportunity to learn about river forces and behaviors, how to protect your property and support river dynamics, how to fish the river, what projects have been accomplished on the Dog, what’s coming in the future, and there’ll be terrific hands on activities as well!  

 

For kids Vermont’s “Let’s Go Fishing” is teaching about how to fish and cast!  MDTU is offering fly casting lessons!  Dog River Flies is doing fly tying!  Vermont Fish and Wildlife is electrofishing on the Dog to demonstrate what fish are in the Dog.  The Vermont Fish Hatchery in Roxbury will have a truck load of trout to view as well!  You can learn about how the river effects your property how to protect it along with the river with our partners.  There are terrific resources here!

 

The partners are: Friends of the Winooski River, Winooski Natural Resource Conservation District, Vermont Fish and Wildlife, Northfield Conservation Commission, Vermont Natural Resource Council, Vermont River Conservancy, Dog River Flies, Central Vermont Regional Planning Commission and Good Measure Beer!
