What is Project THERMALS?
Project THERMALS is a 5 year water temperature monitoring program on South Creek and the South Branch of the Vermillion River. It is a cooperative effort between TCTU, the MN DNR and the Vermillion River Watershed Joint Powers Organization (VRWJPO).
We're doing this to collect, analyze and provide scientifically valid data on the current state of these streams to provide future guidance the potential impacts of future development in the area.
What Do We Need?
- 3 volunteers
- 6 hours of your time
What Will We Be Doing?
- Under the guidance of our friend, Mark Nemeth of the DNR we will be installing and documenting temperature loggers into South Creek.
- We'll start at the meeting location (see the map), do a briefing and then start installing and documenting.
What To Bring
- Dress for the weather
- Water!
- Hat
- Willingness to help out
- Bug spray
- Sunblock
What Will Be Provided
- Temperature loggers
- Equipment to install
- All the other necessities
- Lunch (likely fast food)
