Chestnut Ridge Chapter and the East End Community Center: Youth Fishing Experience

This annual event is a collaboration of the Chestnut Ridge Chapter of Trout Unlimited and the East End Community Center in Uniontown, PA, offering urban children who otherwise would not have an opportunity to experience the joy and pleasure of trout fishing, the chance to catch a trout. Chestnut Ridge TU's Nursery Committee place trout from our chapter's PFBC Coop nursery at Youghiogheny Dam tailrace in the Youth-Only Fishing Area at Hutchinson Park. The East End Community Center event is just one of several youth fishing events supported by the CRTU Cooperative nursery. CRTU volunteers help the kids learn to fish and prepare a grilled hotdog lunch. This year's event will also include a streamside tree-planting near the Sheepskin Trail covered bridge, at the request of South Union Township--a way for the chapter and the young East End Community Center participants to "give back" for the opportunity to fish in the township's public waters.
