Many of us would fish for stream trout even if we knew there was nothing in the river over 16" (and some might fish even if they knew there were no fish at all!) But an encounter with Mr. Big can make for a memorable day. Where are the big trout in our streams, and what are some management techniques that might increase their size range? Listen to Brian Nerbonne address those topics, and answer any other questions you have for the DNR!
Brian Nerbonne is the Regional Fisheries Manager for central and southeast Minnesota. After doing his graduate research on the influence of land use on trout streams in the Whitewater River watershed of SE MN, Brian has had a 20+ year career with the DNR serving in numerous roles including regional stream habitat specialist and statewide stream habitat coordinator prior to his current job. Brian was born in Idaho and did his earliest fishing on the rivers of Idaho and in Yellowstone prior to moving to Michigan where he was able to fish some of the rivers of the lower peninsula for trout, steelhead and salmon. Brian and his wife live in south Minneapolis and have two kids, one in college and one in high school.
The Chapter meeting will start at 7 pm, with 10 minutes of "virtual lobby time" to give online participants time to log on. In-person participants are invited to join us for social time and food/drink (on your own dime) from 5 pm onward.
