Join Kasey Yallaly of the Wisconsin DNR to learn about some innovative work on one of Western Wisconsin's most beautiful streams. Cady Creek was traditionally a brook trout stream, but there has been a dramatic increase in brown trout over the past 15 years, at the expense of the brookies. Kasey will describe a project to remove brown trout, and the effect on the brook trout population. Spoiler alert: there are some happy brook trout in Cady Creek! Kasey will also be happy to answer any questions you have about trout and trout fishing in Western Wisconsin.
Kasey Yallaly started with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources as a Senior Fisheries Biologist in 2018 located in the Baldwin office. Her area of coverage includes St. Croix, Pierce and western Dunn counties. Some of the larger trout streams that she manages includes the Rush, Kinnickinnic, Willow and Eau Galle rivers. Before coming to Wisconsin, she received her Master’s degree at Southern Illinois University. Prior to that, she worked in northern Idaho as a fisheries technician in the Coeur d’Alene office helping manage St. Joseph and Coeur d’Alene rivers’ trout fisheries. She began her career in fisheries in southeast Missouri working on large rivers including the Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio and Illinois rivers.
The Chapter meeting will start at 7 pm, with 10 minutes of "virtual lobby time" to give online participants time to log on. In-person participants are invited to join us for social time and food/drink (on your own dime) from 5 pm onward.Kasey Yallaly started with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources as a Senior Fisheries Biologist in 2018 located in the Baldwin office.
