Chapter Meeting: Big Browns in the Driftless Area 7-8:30pm
Details
Back in 2015, a short article appeared in the Red Wing Republican Eagle: "Spring Valley teacher nets big trout". That article was accompanied by a photo of a smiling angler holding a fat 29" brown trout. I'd say that it was AI generated, but they didn't have AI back then! The name of the angler was Pat Houlton. Pat has a habit of catching big trout in the Driftless Area, and this month he is going to let us in on some of his secrets.
Pat will be preceded by Carleton College Geology Professor Chloé Fandel, who will fill us in on a study she and her students have been doing on springs in the Driftless Area. This presentation was a hit at the Driftless Symposium in February, and we think you will enjoy hearing their findings.
As always, there will be a Zoom option, but we hope you can make it to our in-person gathering at our new East Metro location, the Big Wood Brewery in Vadnais Height. The Big Wood is closed on Mondays, but we have struck a deal with their management to open it up exclusively for TCTU chapter meetings. There is a great meeting space, along with an assortment of beer and soft drinks, plus pizza and wings. We will be alternating meetings between the Big Wood Brewery and the Fat Pants in Eden Prairie for the rest of the season.
