Every year around this time, we ask Kasey Yallaly of the Wisconsin DNR to give us an update on Western Wisconsin. This year, she will cover some of the results from research into how the populations and size ranges of Brook and Brown trout respond to habitat improvement projects.  An important topic as we seek to restore native brook trout populations in suitable streams while maintaining healthy brown trout fisheries in others.

Kasey Yallaly started with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources as a Senior Fisheries Biologist in 2018 located in the Baldwin office. Her area of coverage includes St. Croix, Pierce and western Dunn counties. Some of the larger trout streams that she manages includes the Rush, Kinnickinnic, Willow and Eau Galle rivers. Before coming to Wisconsin, she received her Master’s degree at Southern Illinois University. Prior to that, she worked in northern Idaho as a fisheries technician in the Coeur d’Alene office helping manage St. Joseph and Coeur d’Alene rivers’ trout fisheries. She began her career in fisheries in southeast Missouri working on large rivers including the Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio and Illinois rivers.

Our meeting will be in-person, with a Zoom option for those who prefer to attend remotely. Vaccination is required for in-person attendance. We will not require you to show your vaccine certificate, but we will ask you to confirm you are vaccinated when filling in our attendance sheet.  If you are not vaccinated, please attend via Zoom.
The Chapter meeting will start at 7 pm, with 10 minutes of "virtual lobby time" to give online participants time to log on. In-person participants are invited to join us for social time and food/drink at the Crooked Pint (on your own dime) from 5 pm onward.

TCTU Chapter meetings are open to anybody, but if you are not a TU member, we'd be delighted if you would join!  For a special introductory offer to join TU, click here
Chapter meetings are free of charge.  Donations are appreciated to offset the costs of meetings and to support our mission of cold water conservation.  To donate to our chapter, click here.
