Ride to Support Responsibility in Data Center Development

Details

Our friends at the Coalition for Responsible Data Center Development (CRDCD) will be hosting a bicycle ride to increase awareness of data centers and raise money to pay legal fees incurred in their opposition to the proposed data center south of Farmington in the headwaters of the South Branch of the Vermillion River.

The South Branch is a special place for metro-area trout anglers.
It is one of the best trout streams in the metro area, just 25 minutes from downtown St. Paul
It is a spawning ground and summertime refuge for trout from the main Vermillion, a trophy trout stream.
The DNR and TCTU members have lovingly restored the lower 2 miles of the stream from a buckthorn wasteland to a teeming prairie.
We share the CRDCD's concern that a data center of this magnitude ( proposed to include 2.5 million square feet of buildings and will use up to 2.9 million gallons of water per day on peak days) will adversely impact the environment, especially the South Branch.
