Woman's Fly-Fishing Clinic
May 19, 2024
Chatham Community Center
702 Main Street
Chatham MA

This will be an outdoor event.  Dress for the weather.

Lunch for all participants at noon
Check-in for the clinic will start 30 minutes prior to start time.

*** Registration is required, space is limited **

This will be an exciting and new offering for not only beginning female fly fishers but those who have already entered our exciting sport. The majority of the morning will be spent casting with approximately one hour indoors discussing basic knot tying and flies. A short discussion will be held to wrap it up at the end of the morning, answer questions and provide tips about moving forward in your fly-fishing endeavors.

Casting: The four-part cast (basic casting technique) will be covered, with plenty of opportunity to practice, guided by our guest casting instructor, Sue, and other TU members present. False casting and the roll cast will also be demonstrated and taught for those wishing to move on in their skills.

We will then split the group into two; beginners who have never cast before and those already capable. Many intermediate and advanced fly casters find it helpful to go over the basics to refine the fundamentals before moving on to advanced skills.

For more advanced casters, after reviewing the four-part cast, false casting and the basic roll cast, attention will be given to double hauling to gain more distance, and accuracy to hit those tight spots where our favorite fish lie.

No matter what skill level, all women are welcome! NO experience is required.

Sue will be selling and signing her recent (and debut book), A FULL NET, so bring $20 cash if you want one!

Casting Instruction by Sue Daignault

About the instructor:

SUSAN “SUE” DAIGNAULT was practically born with a rod and reel in her hand. Nearly from her birth, she and her family spent entire summers surfcasting for striped bass along the coasts of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. That love has followed her through her days in the Coast Guard and to her home on the coast of Maine and to some of the most beautiful, and fishy, places in the world. In A Full Net, Sue shares with readers how she became “fish-brained,” and a woman increasingly driven to pursue everything from bonefish and tarpon to bass and, of course, stripers—wherever and whenever she could. What shines through all of her stories of success, failure, and friendship is a love for the waters of the world and the respect and admiration for the fish who call them home.

The clinic is limited to 20 spots, so rsvp soon if you are interested.  CCTU members and friends, feel free to share this flyer with spouses, daughters or friends that might have an interest.
