Women of TU: Meet & Greet
Have you always wanted to learn how to fly fish, but just didn't know where to start or who to ask? Well, here's your opportunity to learn in an exclusively female, fun and supportive environment! We've reserved the creek side shelter at Taughannock Park's North Point for the day. Let's walk through the gear and how to get started. Casting, fly tying, water safety, helpful websites you should know and much more will be discussed. Don't be shy, you are most welcome.
We will have basic fly-fishing set-ups to share for instruction. If you have gear and need a little help rigging it up, that's perfect-bring it along! This event is FREE, but you will need money for park admission. Don't forget your NYS fishing license, or you may easily purchase online HERE. You'll also want plenty of water, snacks and sunscreen or rain gear. Come out and have a great day with us sponsored by Trout Unlimited. Wondering how to get involved? Find your chapter HERE.
Please note, we're planning a modest gear swap-you're encouraged to bring new or gently used equipment you're ready to pass on to another angler. Taughannock is a large park with opportunities for wading/wet wading, roll casting from the bank and double-hauling into the mudline of the creek's outlet into Cayuga Lake . Don't know what I'm talking about? We'll show you! Round out your day lazing in the sun, or walk across the street for an easy 1 mile hike to the base of Taughannock Falls. Let's connect!
