Join Trout Unlimited, the Wisconsin DNR, US Forest Service, and Vilas County for a road-stream crossing tour designed to highlight ongoing work to improve road-stream crossings across northern Wisconsin. The tour will stop at locations that provide examples of common design issues that increase flood and damage risk at crossings and sites that have been replaced with flood resilient and fish friendly designs. Discussion at each site will include steps to design better crossings, partnership opportunities, funding strategies, and how designing road crossings for community safety and habitat improvement can make your project more competitive for grants.
This event is designed for local officials and road departments but anyone who deals with stream crossing projects through regulation, hazard mitigation and response, or aquatic habitat restoration would benefit from the program.
The event is free and lunch will be provided. Please contact Chris Collier (chris.collier@tu.org) with any questions. Please register by May 1st.
