Help us restore a healthy riparian buffer along the West River in New Haven!
Join volunteers from Trout Unlimited and the West River Watershed Coalition on Sunday, May 10th to plant native trees and shrubs at Amhryn Field. We'll be planting a mix of hardwood trees like sycamore, swamp white oak, red maple as well as shrubs and pollinators like black willow, red-osier dogwood, common elderberry and chokeberry. These plants will add some much needed biodiversity, filter and reduce stormwater runoff and create important habitat for all kinds of fish and wildlife species.
We'll get started in the parking lot at West Rocks State Park at 10 am. No experience necessary - this event is perfect for the whole family! We'll have all the tools and equipment you need.
This project is supported by the Greater New Haven Green Fund.
