West Denver TU Family Picnic at Lake Lehow
The WDTU Summer Family Picnic is Saturday, September 7 from 11:00 AM until around 5:00 PM. This will be a fun and secluded location for families and Chapter members to enjoy a day of catch and release fishing, hiking, games, camaraderie, and good food.
Lake Lehow is a Colorado Parks and Wildlife facility across the street from the entrance to Waterton Canyon. The private stocked lake, large covered pavilion, and spin and fly-fishing equipment available for our use at no charge, and outhouses are provided for free by CPW. No fishing license is required there since the land is owned by Denver Water.
The lake is bank access only, no wading, and offers a wheelchair accessible fishing pier also. The Platte River/Waterton Canyon is across the street if someone wants to further explore or bike the area. No dogs are allowed in the Canyon due to the big horn sheep herds. Lake Lehow has stocked trout, bass, some perch and catfish, and bluegill.
The Chapter will provide fried chicken, potato salad and coleslaw, as well as water, soft drinks, and chips. Let us know if you can bring a side dish or a dessert. Think baked beans, salads, pies, cakes, and cookies.
We will also have some great door prizes and raffle items.
