Help us give our young plants some space to grow!

In 2024, TU completed a major habitat restoration project on North Burnt Fork Creek as it flows through Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge. As part of this work, volunteers rallied to help plant 550 native trees and shrubs! The plants are looking great, but we all know that planting is just step #1. Weeds are creeping in and we need your help keeping them at bay. Join us 1-4pm on Thursday April 16th.

Where to meet:

We'll meet at the Refuge's Wildlife Viewing Area parking lot along Wildfowl lane. Detailed directions are included on this registration site.

What to Expect & Bring

The site is uneven, steep in spots and may be muddy or wet. Volunteers should be comfortable walking on very rough ground.

Please bring work boots, work gloves and water. No harm throwing your mud boots in the car too in case its wet (if you don't have mud botos, we can keep you on dry ground). We also recommend long sleeves and pants. Some of these weeds are prickly! If you have a favorite weeding tool (trowel, shovel etc.), bring it too.

Trout Unlimited and the Refuge will supply snacks and limited tools.
