On September 24th and 25th, the Smokey Bear Ranger district and Trout Unlimited is having 2 volunteer days to improve the health of the stream and riparian system on Big Bear Creek. The goal is to:
  • Increase stream and floodplain interaction
  • Improve water quality and quantity
  • Expand riparian vegetation
  • Improve habitat for native plant and animal species
September 24th-Meet at the Smokey Bear Ranger District, 901 Mechem Drive, Ruidoso NMat 1 PM and travel to the work site
September 25th Meet at work site (mouth of Big Bear Creek)8 AM
Please bring the following
  • Waders/Rubber Boots
  • Gloves
  • Food (water will be provided)
  • Be prepared for changing weather (monsoons have been active this year)
