Volunteer Opportunity- Marianne Williams Park Adopt-A-Habitat Work Day with City of Boise
The Ted Trueblood Chapter of TU has a volunteer project with the City of Boise to do some restoration and maintenance work on our Trout Unlimited Adopt-A-Habitat area. We are looking for 20 - 25 people so there is plenty of space to sign up. Please RSVP your attendance here.
This is a kid friendly project. Note we will walk 1/8 mile to the project and return the same way.
DATE: November 2nd.
Start time: 9:30am
Finish time: approx.12:30
Location: Marianne Williams Park- 3451 E Barber Valley Dr, Boise, ID 83706 (see map).
We'll meet in the parking lot there. Note there are heated restrooms at this park.
Main tasks:
- Pull eight unused fence posts near the river. The city will provide a post puller.
- Remove plant protectors and stakes from previous planting projects.
- Wrap large and medium cottonwood trees and some willow stands with wire to prevent beaver damage. If the old chicken wire is too tight and causing girdling, we will re-wrap the tree.
- If time allows, remove bull thistle and spotted knapweed.
Other Details:
1. Prep for the weather. If its raining we will still hold this project. Skiers, please pick another day to pray for snow.
2. Bring gloves and you can bring you own clippers if you want to. Both plant and wire clippers. The City of Boise staff will bring various types of clippers.
3. The City of Boise staff will provide educational info, trash bags, shovels, wrapping materials and misc supplies.
4. BYO water and snacks. Lunch will not be provided
