
Volunteer for the Cañon City High School Fly Fishing Tournament
Join the Southern Colorado Greenback Chapter of Trout Unlimited for the Cañon City High School Fly Fishing Tournament on October 11, 2025, in Cañon City, CO! We need dedicated volunteers to support high school and approved middle school anglers on the Arkansas River in this conservation-focused event.
Volunteer Roles Needed:

Check-In Crew (7:00–8:00 AM): Greet teams, verify registrations, and distribute materials at the Cañon City Recreation District.

Beat Setup Team (7:30–9:00 AM): Set up 10–15 fishing beats along the river with clear boundaries and signage.

Beat Scorers – Morning Wave (9:30 AM–Noon, Training Provided): Monitor teams at assigned beats, measure and record fish catches, and ensure catch-and-release compliance.

Beat Scorers – Afternoon Wave (1:30–4:00 PM, Training Provided): Same as morning, overseeing teams and scoring catches.

Runners (9:30 AM–4:00 PM): Deliver messages and supplies between beats and coordinators.

Lunch Servers (Noon–1:00 PM): Serve provided lunch and assist with the stream cleanup challenge.

Awards Presenters (4:30–5:00 PM): Announce winners and distribute prizes during the pizza party.
Details: Volunteers must attend a mandatory training session at 7:30 AM on event day at the Cañon City Recreation District. Beat scorers receive role-specific training. Roles involve standing or light outdoor work. Lunch and pizza provided. No fishing experience needed—just enthusiasm for youth and conservation!
