TU Training: Running a Film Night to Build Community

Join TU staff for a special training on running a community-building and fundraising film night.

Fly fishing films, tours and festivals can be an excellent way for your chapter to host a fun, inviting, and inclusive event for members and the public. What’s more, film events have proven to attract and engage that “hard-to-reach” demographic of younger anglers and conservationists. Film screenings can also generate significant funds to support your chapter’s conservation and education programs, help create a sense of community in your area and provide an opportunity to recruit new members.

For 2024, TU has partnered as a sponsor of the International Fly Fishing Film Festival (IF4) which includes promotion of our work and mission, inclusion of video highlights in the opening and intermission and more great awareness building of our work. It also means our chapters can host an independent screening in a local theater for a discounted rate of $750 for the film rights. Details at www.flyfilmfest.com/tu.

Chapters are also free to host other film events like the Fly Fishing Film Tour (F3T), show a locally-made film, or showcase a small selection of some of TU’s best conservation and fishing shorts from our special TU Channel on Vimeo.
