TU Town Hall: Impacts of Federal Funding on the Restoration Economy
Join Chris Wood, President & CEO, and Lindsay Slater, Vice President for Government Affairs, for a conversation on the impact of the recent pause in federal disbursements and how it may impact for TU's contractors, employees, and on-the-ground partners.
Trout Unlimited leverages federal funding to restore trout and salmon habitat, while also creating clean water and lasting economic growth to rural communities throughout the United States. Our restoration work injects millions of dollars into local economies, supports small businesses, boosts tourism, and ensures that healthy communities thrive alongside healthy rivers and streams.
During this TU Town Hall, designed especially for volunteer leaders of our chapters and councils across the country, we will share updates on the impact of recent federal actions on our work, discuss ways TU staff, trustees and volunteers are addressing the pause and provide real-world examples of the economic impact on our contractors and partners - especially in rural communities that rely on the restoration economy.
We'll also ask everyone to make their voice heard, ensuring that TU' restoration projects continue delivering benefits for people and fish, alike by reaching out to their members of Congress by sending an email message or using the U.S. Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and using the following script for guidance:
Conservation projects create jobs and benefit small businesses. Organizations like Trout Unlimited leverage federal funding to hire local contractors, engineers, and small businesses in rural communities.
Unfortunately, the recent pause in already signed federal contracts has created uncertainty and project delays for Trout Unlimited staff and contractors, many of whom are small, local businesses.
Please support conservation jobs and America’s restoration economy.
