A reminder of our next Chapter meeting scheduled for Thursday, February 12th at Urbandale Library conference room B at 6:15 pm. Please note the earlier start time due to our full agenda.
We have a special agenda planned for the meeting in February. Our guest speakers will be Michael Schmidt, General Counsel of the Iowa Environmental Council, and Fred Long, President of the Iowa Conservation Alliance. We’ve asked them to present on Environmental and Conservation-related legislation being considered in this year’s Legislative session, the potential impacts of those proposals, and how their organizations are responding. The goal is to help educate our members and partners on the legislation, and learn how we as individuals and like-minded organizations can be effective advocates. If you care about issues related to water quality, public access, and outdoor recreation (and if you’re receiving this, you likely do!), we strongly encourage you to attend, and encourage your friends and family as well.

Following the presentations we’ll dive into continued preparations for the Fly Fishing Film Tour (F3T) event to be held Saturday, March 7th, 10 am at the Varsity Cinema in Des Moines. The F3T is our biggest fundraiser of the year, so please spread the word about this fun event! We’ll have lots of giveaways, door prizes, raffle prizes, and silent auction merchandise. We’ve previewed the reels and will have a great mix of fresh and saltwater action highlighting many different species, as well as some thought-provoking and emotionally-moving stories.
