Rhode Island TU and RIDEM Fish & Wildlife partner in a Trees for Trout program that is aimed at installing stream bank revetments where they are needed in the watershed. We collect Christmas trees in January and bring them to select areas to improve streambanks in late Summer/early Fall.
At this event, volunteers will unload trees from citizens' vehicles and load them onto a RIDEM trailer. Full trailers are brought to a storage area on RIDEM property until they are used later in the year.
A few guidelines about the trees:
- must be free of ornaments, tinsel, etc
- minimum of 5ft
- maximum of 5 trees per vehicle
Volunteers should report to the Arcadia Check Station at 9:30 am. Coffee/donuts will be provided.
