Schenck's Island open space in Wilton is a 20-acre parcel bordering the Norwalk River where the Mianus Chapter has done more than $500,000 in habitat work in the past 20 years.
In 2018, we completed our most ambitious project yet, the full restoration of a half-mile of stream - adding over 30 full size tree root wads and trunks, 250 large boulders and creating more than 30 deep pools to serve as refuge for wild Brown Trout.
Help us continue this work alongside our partners, the Wilton Land Conservation Trust, as we plant native trees, remove invasive plants and vines and maintain trials along the river.
Tools and gloves provided if needed - bring your own shovel, loppers and other equipment if you have it!
