What: Trash Cleanup Along The River Before Run-Off/Dam Release
THE PLAN: To help keep our beautiful Blue River beautiful, arrive at 9:00 am or shortly before. Check in and sign a waiver (required). You will be assigned a beat on the river between the dam and the Silverthorne PD/Library lot. You will be provided with trash bags, surveyor flags, and instructions on how to handle waste. Drive/walk to your beat. Remove trash from the walkways along the river and the river’s banks to help keep it out of the river. Return to the meeting location and exchange bags of trash for lunch and soda.
WHAT TO WEAR AND BRING:
- Shoes with heavy soles and good traction (you may be walking on/over cobbles)
- Heavy gloves
- Clothing appropriate for the anticipated weather
- A water bottle
- Please do not bring small children or dogs for their own safety
CONTINGENCY PLAN:
The event will be canceled if snow is covering the trash so that we can’t see it. Also, snow makes the rocks along the banks even more slippery and dangerous.
