Traphole Brook Tree Planting in Norwood Saturday April 30th!
From April 22 through May 1, TU is celebrating Earth Day, Arbor Day and National Volunteer Week. GBTU & NepRWA are planning to be one of the hosts for over 100 tree plantings across the country.
Celebrate Spring and connect with a diverse community of volunteers who want to get their hands dirty planting trees. There's nothing better than joining friends and neighbors to take care of a river we all love!
Join GBTU’s Home Waters near the former Mill Pond on Saturday April 30th from 9:30am to Noon for our tree planting event on Traphole Brook in Norwood near the now removed dam. We just completed over 200 live tree stakes in the area and now it is time for a few larger trees.
What do we have in store for new tree plantings?
- One, 9-10 foot high Weeping Willow that needs a 50” wide by 20” deep hole
- Two other smaller trees
- 6 wetland shrubs
TU tree plantings are great ways to engage the entire family - so bring out your kids and grandkids and help teach them the importance of working together as a community to care for and recover our rivers and streams.
We'll have some tools available, but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own gloves and shovels, and wear clothes and boots ready for the dirt.
*Note: Parking location may change depending on field and road conditions. You will be contacted the day before the planting with more information on where to park and meet.
