You're invited to join the TN Trout Habitat Team! We are looking for volunteers to learn and participate in the wood survey protocol. Volunteers traverse select streams, documenting the amount of tree limbs and trunks that are present.
Historically, downed trees would've made up an important component of stream habitat for trout and other aquatic species. Past unsustainable land use practices have limited the amount of downed trees that are now found in streams. The goal of this survey is to identify streams where TU and partners can put trees into the water to create better trout populations and healthier ecosystems.
This training will take place Saturday, September 11th at 1 pm. Participants will meet at the Margarette Falls Trailhead (1362 Shelton Mission Rd, Greeneville, TN 37743) and will hike approximately 1 mile to the survey area. The training will last ~3 hours.
Prior to coming out, everyone will need to download Survey123 from the app store and access the survey protocol. Instructions will be sent for this via email. Anyone interested must sign up before Wednesday, September 8th.
