We look forward to all levels of tiers at our Tie One On events. This will be our final Tie One On event of the year! Tight lines!
For our last Tie One On on April 27th at 7 pm at Little Traverse Conservancy, Tom Bielec will do a presentation on the technique that he uses to make “quill body flies” using moose mane. He will demonstrate a couple variations of segmented moose mane bodies. Materials that we may be using are listed below along with a couple of videos that are representative of what Tom will present.
Again all materials & equipment will be provided. We hope you can join us for our final Tie One On event for 2026. We will return with our Winter Speaker Series & Tie One On events after the first of the year!
Emerger Hook Size 14-ish
Brown or Black Thread
Synthetic stranding or crystal flash
Moose Mane in Black, Brown, Blonde and White
Elk, Deer or Moose Hair Medium to Blonde in color
Reflective tinsel in Opal or Prism
Dubbing Fur in earthy to ruddy red colors
UV Resin (Medium to Thick viscosity is my preference) w/ UV flashlight
