Tie and Lie - Fly Tying Event

Spring is finally here, temperatures in the air and water are finally rising.  Quill Gordons are some of the first aquatic insects to hatch.  From what I’ve found, they usually hatch in the afternoon, when the water temperatures reach 48-53°F and are mostly found hatching in the riffles and rapids. They emerge underwater and rise to the surface as a winged adult and ride the surface while drying its wings, They are a large mayfly, in the size 10 to 12 hook size.

It is best fished as by casting upstream, allowing it to sink, and then twitching it up through the currents in front of feeding fish, or as a dropper.
