Each month, usually the last Monday of the month, leaders of our Chapter invite everyone to share their fly tying expertise and/or learn how to tie a featured fly. No experience is necessary to get started.
The Tie and Lie gathering is a social engagement as well as an educational experience. Meeting announcements are sent out electronically via our mailing list, same as the monthly newsletter.
This month's featured tier is Al Caton.  He will be demonstrating two different versions of the Tellico Nymph.  He will bring supplies for both versions.
The first version is from Barry Ord Clark.  One of the most popular patterns to come out of the Great Smoky Mountains, the Tellico nymph has gone through several variations over the decades. The second version is from Savage Flies' Appalachian/ Great Smoky Mountain Fly Tying series.  Some say the Tellico nymph imitates a mayfly nymph where others are sure that it's a caddis larva.  But the colors are similar to that of the Golden stonefly nymph.
If you need a vice or tools, Contact Al Caton at alc609@aol.com.
