Trout Unlimited Chapter #373 in Sylva has won a grant for a local conservation project from TU National. The grant is called an Embrace a Stream Grant (EAS) and it plans to survey Savannah Creek in Jackson county for sources of sedimentation. Sedimentation or silt smothers the stream bottoms, killing microorganisms and insects. This silt flows in the Tuckaseigee River polluting that water also.
