For those of us who live in Victor, East and West Bloomfield one of the best perks is access to Boughton Park, which is jointly owned and maintained by the three towns. Access to the park and the two lakes is limited to town residents with a valid parking permit. The East and West Ponds in the park were formerly the water supply reservoirs for Fairport.
Both ponds have a large population of sunfish and largemouth bass, including some fairly large fish (see above). Fishing from a canoe, kayak or small boat gives the angler the best chance of success as shoreline access is limited by heavy woods. Electric trolling motors are allowed but gasoline outboards are prohibited. Catch and Release, especially with bass, is strongly encouraged.
For Monday July 10th, Canandaigua Lake TU received a Special Use permit from the Boughton Park Commission and ten one day parking passes for our members and friends to enjoy this beautiful park. In exchange the Chapter will assist with some fishing education and/or conservation events in the future. Please reserve your Special Parking Pass at the link below so that we can coordinate the distribution of the permits.
Carpooling is encouraged and Will Faber has volunteered to use his field in Victor as a 'Park and Ride' if needed. The park is patrolled and out of town vehicles do get towed if they don't have a valid parking permit. We are using TU's Event system to register and keep track of attendees. Use the 'Contact Event Organizer' link if you have any questions. Please indicate if you want to attend in the Morning or Evening Session under the 'Ticket Type'.
