Please celebrate 2023 Earth Day by joining P. Pendleton Kennedy and Mountaineer Chapters of Trout Unlimited for a day of conservation, education, and fellowship at Seneca Rocks Visitor Center.
When: 9:30 to 4:00 on Saturday, April 22, 2023
Where: Seneca Rocks Visitor Center. We will meet at the pavilion in the lower parking area, near the historic Sites Farmhouse and the pedestrian bridge that crosses the North Fork. Note that the entrance to this lower parking area is off Rt 28/55, about 500 feet north of the Rt 28/55 bridge over Seneca Creek.
Schedule:
9:30 - 10:00 - Meet at the pavilion
10:00 - 12:30 - Conduct litter clean-up along parking areas, roads, trails, and river edge
12:30 – 1:30 - Lunch/Social (lunch provided) and discuss chapter and State TU activities. (PPKTU will conduct its raffle drawing and we plan to have a drawing for participation prizes!)
1:30 – 4:00 - We plan to have several flyfishing education opportunities for beginner and experienced anglers, including a stream bug session, led by Dave Thorne, DNR Coldwater Stream Biologist, where we seine for stream bugs and match them to the corresponding flies. Also, fly casting demonstrations will be available for any anglers wanting to learn more about flyfishing.
