KIDS AND FAMILIES WELCOME!
For only the second time in more than 100 years, sea lamprey are spawning in the Norwalk River in Wilton - and you're invited to come see these marvelous creatures up close with a guided tour of their spawning site this Saturday - World Fish Migration Day!
Watch a quick video of lamprey building a spawning nest.
Join us at Merwin Meadows Park at 1 p.m. and bring waders or water shoes (shorts and water shoes will be a great treat given the high temperatures forecast for the day). We'll walk a short distance upstream to the spawning sites and get a close look at this incredible, natural phenomenon.
Blocked by dams for more than 100 yeas, sea lamprey are a critical part of the recovering ecosystem in the Norwalk River and a sign of the impact all our conservation work is making!
