Do you love fishing and boating on the Saranac? We do too. Sadly, the trash and debris found at many of our access points will make it hard to keep places like this open to the public in the future. Whether you're a seasoned trash collecting expert or a brand newb to the world of river cleanups you will not want to miss the Saranac River Cleanup on September 27th! We'll be moving our way down the Saranac looking for river trash at various public fishing and boating access points and parking lots. We're meeting at 10am at 7 Rugar St., Behind Harrington Hall. Look for the blue TU tent.
We're excited to have our friends from Lake Champlain Sea Grant joining us to help with sorting, weighing, and proper recycling all of all materials collected. All are encouraged to please sign up to help us get an idea of a head count. We will be bringing some coffee & donuts along with work gloves and refreshments for all volunteers. Please wear appropriate shoes/boots or wading gear for potentially getting into the river to remove any found trash or debris. Our primary target remains on finding trash within the exposed riverbed during the drought season as well as any trash found on commonly used angler or boating access trails.
