Volunteers needed to help install fencing on the Rio de las Vacas near Cuba. Meet at the Cuba Ranger Station at 9:00 AM. Wear boots and bring gloves, water and safety glasses and be ready to work. The Forest Service will provide all tools.
The Rio de las Vacas is a perennial river with headwaters in the San Pedro Parks Wilderness and flows down until it meets the Rio Cebolla and becomes the Rio Guadalupe. The Forest Service and Grazing permittees are responsible for maintaining particular stretches of fence in order to better manage cattle where the Vacas flows through some of the grazing allotments on the district for the protection of riparian habitat. The Volunteer Day is to work on the fences that the Forest Service is responsible for maintaining.
